|
|
| a week ago i bought a new mouse for my desktop pc, "Microsoft Explorer Mini Mouse". i installed microsoft's driver (the IntelliPoint software), and the mouse is working well. however, since that day, whenever i log on to windows the found new hardware wizard pops up saying that i need to install "HID Keyboard Device". i just tell it to search the driver and it finds it in 10-20 secs, but its annoying to do it every time over and over. im pretty sure its not related to intellipoint, because i already had the older version installed for my previous microsoft mouse. i checked the device manager and now i have two keyboards there, the first one is my keyboard ("Standard 101\102-Key") and the second one called "HID Keyboard Device". anyone know what is the problem?

Uninstall all software for your mouse.
Remove all usb port in device manager.
Restart and see what happens.
Most of the time it's not necessary to install the software, but if you need to go do the Microsoft's website and download their latest version.
"HID Keyboard Device" is a USB keyboard.
Probably the receiver you got can be used for a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard too?

when it happens next time, tell it to let windows search for the drivers and chose the option to tell winows where to search for the drivers. untick all the boxes that have like C: and stuff, and make it look in a folder without drivers. once it's done it'll tell you that it couldn't find drivers, and it should have a checkbox saying something like "don't prompt me about install this hardware's drivers again" or something. works all the time for me.
