I just aint able to find any pointers in a real game (with ce)... in the tutorial it worked fine, but when I tried it in an RPG-Maker game I always get 10000+ results and I have no clue which one to use... what should I do?

what you should do is this:

- try it again
- while trying make some screen shots
- post the screen shots and explain what you did

then we might be able to help you.

to tell you the truth, pointers suck.
i suggest you inject code instead, or patch the file that needs to be patched.

pointers do suck, learn about pointers, then move on pointers are useful for simple programs, but when it comes to dynamically allocated memory pointers are useless

i would have to agree i rairly use pointers now that im injecting my own code. in fact i think it take's me less time to inject some code then it does to hunt for pointers. the only time i use pointer's now is when i play gba games on virtual boy

I should learn to inject code, is it difficult at all, especially if I don't know any code really? I never even looked at it in the tutorial I just read "Inject Code" and thought, "Well, I'm done!" lol

Learn how to work with pointers. I almost never use Code Inject for 1 simple reason. I dont need it. Most of the time pointers will be good enough, not only with simple games. Even with online games, and then i doesn't mean the "client sided". So learn how to handle pointers (easy) and then learn code injection. And when you learn how to handle pointers in advance then you do not need code injection most of the time.

sometimes you also need to use a pointer in your code injection... Like there is one global command for decreasing health, you need to figure out wich ones to decrease and wich one not. Then you'll need to compare the adress in the code with a pointer to your health.

@Glest

once a value is changed, you can always read the registers and do some compares in your code

yeah, but compare it with what? That's right, with a pointer.

ok, i think its clear now. Laughing

I just saw how this topic started, so lets wait until x3ro reacts so we can help him finding pointers. That was the reason he started this. And before this discussion starts again i want to say: "he needs to understand what pointers does, no matter if he uses it directly or in-direct, he need to understand the full working of memory editing to make the best hacks"

tnx,

Bepetemish
