but if you want your DDoS Attack to succeed, you can't really do it with one computer.

Only illegal if you do not have explict information from the owner of the computer or server.
1) DDoSing can last forever, till it is fixed, or only while you are doing it (if you stop, its over)
2) DDoS = multiple computer DoS attacks
3) DoS = one computer DoSing... It means to not allow connection (denial of service aka DoS) to a website or server. This could be in bandwidth raping a website ( may keep them down till they pay up to their server) an http flood (could wound them for a long time!) or TCP(Syn/ack) or UDP attack... There are probably many more ways.
Pinging = the worst and ineffective way to DoS. It does nothing. The Ping of Death does not work, script kiddies think they can still do the Ping of Death.. Stupid.
Is it illegal if you do not have any consent? Oh yes.
If you take down a large website will they find you? Most likely.
If they find you will you be charged with A LOT of money and jail time? Maybe not you, but your parents most likely...

MS-DOS and DoS are two different things that happened to have the same acronym... If you didn't know
MS-DOS or just DOS = Microsoft Disk Operating System or just Disk Operating System.
DoS or DDoS = Denial of Service of Distributed Denial of Service.
If you didn't know they where different, they are.
You cannot rape bandwidth using MS-DOS...

Yeah, thats a DDoS... you'd need about 10 computers to send about 500 simulations HTTP packets. It's either each send 500 or 5,000 or 500,000... I forget.
Either way, it's a great number and difficult.

I stated this once before, pinging cannot take down a site. People who think this are idiots. I am not saying that you are one, but whoever put the idea in your head is one.
Pinging has become an obsolete method since 1990s...
You wont be able to. Forget it.

| A botnet of 100+ can easily bring down a website like a blog hosted on a free host. If you wanna try corporation's websites, get a couple thousand.
