|
|
Firstly, are all these parts compatable with each other?
Mobo: Gigabyte EP45-DS3L $164
Processor: Intel 2 Quad Q8200 - $305
HDD: Western digital SATA 640gig - $99
GPU: 512M HD4850 Generic $209
PSU: Cooler Master extreme 550 Watt 78$ (Dont know about this, it was suggested for a very similar build that UltimateDestiny suggested.)
Case: Thermaltake Soprano VX - $129
DVD/CD drive: 20x SATA Sony drive $32
RAM: 4GB Kit-800 (2x2G) GSkill-NT $73
Total: $1089
Anyone have any suggested improvements?
(The website im buying from is http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf)
Thanks.

Do not take the Q8200
Rather take the Q6600 or Q9xxx

Low CPU multiplier and high FSB makes for horrible overclocking performance.
Yes, it should fit together perfectly.

I dont know how, nor do I intend to overclock.
But will what you mentioned affect its normal use?

q6600, is cheaper and less expensive.
Q8xx, is just a rippoff, expensive and crap.
As they said Q6600 OR Q9550 (i wouldn't say lower, but might also Q9450).
Regards Humper

Unless you're into x264 encoding or heavy-duty rendering, I feel quad-core processors are overrated and over-recommended.

Im buying a quad cause I want this baby to go.
And I dont want to have to upgrade it soon, so im going for the best possible parts for my limited budget.

Then I recommend the Q6600, you can save a few bucks there since the 8xxx's don't have much on them.

Play GTA4 on the PC with a dual core, and crank the settings. Tell me it doesn't shit itself. It's almost maxing out highly overclocked Q6600's, let alone your dinky CPU.
Usefulness of 4 cores is only going to go up in the future.
ALSO:
UD3P mobo tbh

I dont think MSY stocks that mobo.
Can you reccomend a better one for a similar price.
And which processor should I get?
the Q6600 or the Q8200? I dont have the money to go for anything better than those.
Also, will the PSU in my orginal post be enough?

I would find a 600W for safety precautions.
