SO, im helping a friend look for graphics cards, he only has a 1.0 slot on his MB, so do any of you have good suggestions? He mainly plays COD and his max price is around $150.00

PCIe x16 2.0 is backwards compatible with revision 1.0.

An HD 4850 or 9800GTX+ if you can find it at that price. However, if his needs are only CoD4/5, then even a good $50 card (8800GS/9600GSO) can max out CoD4/5 at medium resolutions (<1920x1200), and overclocking it will yield even better speeds. However, if your friend is completely fine with spending $150 or wants to be slightly more future-proof, then an HD 4850 or 9800GTX+ is the way to go.

You sure a 2.0 works with 1.0?
Cause he had a 9600GT that his system would not detect or install. Seems i he looked around and said many other people had this problem with not fix.
Any idea what the problem would of been?

Hey little off topic, but can some one explain radeon to me? Like i understand nvidia like i know a 8800gt is better than a 9600gt and blah blah. but how does like radeon work is there like a chart i could look at that tells me like how much each card outputs and stuff. Kind of like this one...
