I have been on the internet and have had the internet stop working I look at my modem and the internet light is red. I waited for sometime no change i restart my computer it works but shortly later the same thing happens. I have checked my modem connection info when it was down and it says PPPoE Fail ,Check PPPoE connection to Ethernet. This as been going on for sometime and is really annoying. Any ideas how to fix.

this happens to me sometimes, the internet just dies and the router keeps trying to connect. it lasts for like 2 minutes then it's all good again. i think my problem though is my isp, bunch of arabs who have no idea what the interwebz is.

I used to have the same problem with DSL (does it go out for YOU when there's lightning?). Verizon customer service is no help at all, if they're your ISP.

everyone on my street has Verizon but me... they have almost no internet... and mine doesn't go out even during lightning

Try resetting your router. I did that (Comcast) and my internet jumped x2.

That used to happen to me. I rang ISP (surprisingly they were Indian) and they told me to hard reset router (using a pointy object to reset it on the actual router) but it didn't work. So i bought a new router and it still kept doing it. Then finally we had to hire a computer tech because the ISP tech's were useless. To cut a long story short we had to format PC. Smile

is it ADSL?

it could be something to do with your SNR (signal to noise ratio), tell your ISP about this and they will probably lower your sync speed and it should stabilize your connection.
If your line is "noisy" and suffering interference it will drop your connection.
