The m17x is OBVIOUSLY better because it is more expensive.
but forreal: m17x :
offers 9800gt which beats the 3870
also offers a SSD
Doesnt have Blu ray
noticeably bigger (both are probably huge)
and doesnt offer quad core

Bullcrap
A lot of things which are cheaper can be much better than other things
And other then that i dont think youll notice that much of a difference between those two GPU's

| Um, the single 9800M GT is not faster than the dual 3870 in CrossFire. The M17 has quad-core support. For the same price, the M17 beats the M17x in performance.

AFAIK you cant just compare the single 9800m gt to the CF 3870, the 9800 also runs in SLI and will outperform the 3870.
Oh yeah and ignore those prices:
they are priced at minimum spec and the processor/gpux2 is another $2000 ish
so expect to Quintuple the prices once you have bumped up those specs

I agree, i mean, your alienware probably will have about 10 minutes of gaming life anyway if you stick such a beefy proccesssor and 2 graphics cards

A desktop is plugged into a electricity cord 24/7 I don't see the difference with a laptop. I want a laptop for privacy & mobility. If I can afford it, it doesn't really matter I still get a nice machine for my money.

| I'm in High School and I would like to play some games on my lunch break, plus its better when I'm at home because I got lots of siblings, so I can just play in my bed without having people crowding me and stuff.
