my dad doesnt want me to build a new computer for black friday and just wants to buy one.

i told him altho it is cheap to buy a pre-built computer, the value of building ur own is better. plus, i want to overclock.

faster machine for less money, overclock, customize any way you want to, build any type of machine for any use, get good brand hardware, 2+ year warranty on parts
cons of building:
wrong wire and you throw the whole thing away, have to read alot to match the hardware

no overclock, cheap hardware, 1 year warranty, expensive

prebuilt computers r cheaper becuz the companies buy parts in bulk, which is cheaper.

The hardware sucks terribly for the price, compared to a custom computer and the parts aren't quite as reliable.

Prebuilt computers aren't at all cheaper than a custom computer, you're basically paying a premium for shitty parts.

If you want to overclock, forget it if you want to buy a prebuilt computer, the multipliers are locked and you won't be able to do anything with them.

Only ever get a pre-built computer if you're too lazy to build your own, which, really, isn't very hard. For first time builders it usually won't take more than an hour or two, try doing a google search for a tutorial.

Better, more reliable parts
More customizability, you are able to choose exactly how good you want/need each part to be
Overclockability
Bragging rights
Cons of building your own computer:
Takes a bit of work
You might damage a part if you act stupid about it

Quicker
Less work involved
More support (usually)
Cons of buying a pre-built computer:
Much less powerful parts for the money
Cheaper, less reliable parts sold at a premium
Less customizability
No overclockability
No bragging rights

When i bought a new case and i had to transfer all hardware, i fucked up my mobo and psu xD

-A sense of accomplishment
-Cheaper
-Longer warranty on individual components
-Flexibility and expansion for upgrading
-No proprietary parts

Cons:
-Your mostly on your own when it comes to trouble shooting
and support.

Buying a prebuilt:

Pros:
- Support
- Comes with the operating system
Try to configure one including windows and so on and see if you can
stay under a prebuild's price.

Cons:
- Shorter warranty
- Expensive, but not always

building your own makes your machine a lot more personal than a dell.
