how can I access wireless networks from xp?
in vista there was a "connect to" button in the start menu. Are there drivers I need to install for this to work on xp? I have wireless setup already I just don't know what to do next

You want to connect to the internet via wireless
or do you want to connect to your other computer and share files via wireless?

If it's the 2nd option then it should be My Network Places

If you install your wireless card network software then you must use that to connect to the internet.

If you just installed the drivers and not the software that comes with it, then to connect to the internet via wireless there should be a single monitor icon with a red X on it located at the right hand side of your task bar.

I think i know what's wrong.
I have a laptop with a built in wireless adapter and XP just doesn't uncover it. Is there some way to make xp recognize my built in wireless adapter?

You have to look at your laptop's specification in order to find out, but if your laptop has this "Centrino"* sitcker logo on it then your wireless lan is from Intel.

* Centrino logo is required to have a Intel wireless card, without a Intel wirelss card then there will be no Centrino logo sticker.

Common Intel Wireless for notbooks with Intel Centrino logo

Intel 2200 B/G (very old, first series of Centrino laptops)
Intel 3945 A/B/G (mid age)
Intel 4965 A/G/N (very new)

you dont have to get wireless drivers on XP its like Vista, at least thats what my XP computers are like...

I installed the Intel Pro drivers and it tells me "no wireless network drivers found" even though i'v installed the drivers
if none of this works out I guess I'll just dual boot xp and vista
