I was eavesdropping on some other gamers at my school, and i heard one of them say he was getting one

how good are XPS computers by Dell?

do people usually get them customized?

would you recommend getting one for hardcore gaming?

thanks

All branded computers suck.

Both in price and function.

This.

You will almost always be able to get something better than the branded computer for a lower price if you buy the parts separately.

XPS is an extremely wide term... So you cannot check the specs on it...

There are XPS gaming computers, laptops, and shit... and then in the categorizes there are customizable options...

Also XPS = Alienware. Dell bought dem hoes and overpriced it even more.

build.

I can only agree with people here. ALWAYS put your own PC together, it's cheaper, it's better, and it's so much more fun. Plus, you get a better feeling about your PC n__n

No XPS is not Alienware. XPS is the line of system made by Dell belonging to its top of the line category.

Dell did buy Alienware, but they did not force Alienware to change their name to XPS. Alienware still sells their own branded systems.

Also Alienware price came down a lot once Dell bought them, before their basic system would cost at least $3000.

All XPS come with 256MB or 128MB Video Card which really sucks. The other parts are good except they use 667mhz RAM which is really slow and you cant really overclock or anything. They cost around $1000-2000 you can build a gaming machine for that much

Sorry that is bullshit, you can customize your computer as you want.

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dxcwor5&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19

That one can have SLI 280GTX (2x).

And no its not ever close to worth it.

But you pay for:
- Them to build it
- Warrent, your safty if you fuck somthing up
- Support
- Windows (xp/vista)
- Additional programs
- Added hardware, like monitor/mouse/keyboard
- etc

And no I would never buy a prebuild, I can't afford it.
I buy a "cheap" one and overclock it.

Just bought a new computer, with
4870X2+Q9550+2GB ram 1024mHz+Asus Maximus II, that went for around 1200€ + Chassi and CPU cooler + PSU.

Im going to sell it Im just testing around and trying to max the GPU and CPU, going to sell it overclocked so I need a stable build.

Got it to 4.2gHz atleast, going to try higher later.
Probebly gonna have it on around 3.6-3.8gHz when I sell it.
