How am I able to tell what type of RAM my computer's motherboard supports? (i.e. DDR2, DRR, frequency) Also, can I run my computer using the RAM I have currently installed with new RAM if they are different brands, etc?

Find out your motherboard brand and model. Look it up on the main site.

You will find everything you need to know about what your motherboard supports.

type of RAM does matter... go to http://memoryselector.cnetchannel.com/compusa/ and it will tell you which RAM will work with your comptuer.
