is it possible to extend the range of my wireless network using 2 routers?
i have two desktops and one laptop in my basement and 1 laptop upstairs but the network doesent reach that far -.-" so would it be possible to set up 2 routers to extend the range? like another access point or sumthing Razz

Yup, it would. But, depending on the router, you'd need a cable to the router. It would probably be cheaper just to get another antenna, though, instead of a whole router.

lol i already have 2 routers xD dont ask why -.-
so how would i set up the extra one hook it up upstairs and plug it into the laptop :S?

Just run a wire from one of the primary router's ports to the in port of the secondary router.

how would that increase the range... o_O... woudlent you have to put the other router somewhere else ..?

Yes. you'd need a pretty long cord.

Just to be clear, both routers have wireless?

and a long cord??? i doubt any cord would reach that far >.O

upper floor ______laptop___________

ground floor _______second router________
| cord connecting routers
basement floor ____desktop, laptop, router_________

If you second router is on the 1st floor, the laptop on the second floor should be able to receive the signal. Hell, it might even work if the second router is on the stairs with the door open.

Other than that, look into a signal booster.

theres a thing that you can get to extend your router connection but if you want to hook up 2 routers you prob need to get a modem for each one and do it that way...
