Well.. my laptop has been going sort of haywire of late. I get random BSOD's, it's a bitch to turn OFF my computer, I have to end explorer.exe and restart it when I log in, and my CD drive doesn't work at all.

Here are the results of Dell Diagnostics. If you have had any of these problems and found a fix, please tell me. I have quite a few sensitive files on this laptop and I don't have a single backup of it anywhere. I'm saving up for an external HD (Does $109.00 for 640 GB sound reasonable?), but until then I'm afraid I'm pretty vulnerable. The reason I'm freaking out is because I Googled some of these numbers and got some rather scary results.

1. 0F00:2874
- (DVD+-RW Drive) Optical drive BIST -- Spindle test failed
- Specific: PHILIPS DVD+-RW SDVD8820
Opens and closes, still has a light. However, when a CD is put in, the drive makes whirring noises as well as several unpleasant sounds resembling hitting a wall with a bent-back plastic spoon. Once that ordeal is over, my laptop refuses to recognize that there is anything in that drive, telling me there's 0 free space and 0 used space.

2. 0F00:0244
- 89829926
- 89829927
- 89829928
- Specific: FUJITSU MHV2100BH
My Main HD; I've been having several problems with this.

Diagnosis? Should I proceed with all of my virus scans and attempts to repair, or should I just give up on this until I get my External HD, copy my User Data over, and start over?

Other:
- Windows' Wireless Internet thing doesn't work; it doesn't find any networks. I'm running off of the software given to me by Intel.
- EVEREST tells me I'm on SP2, although I'm sure I've installed SP3.. However, I do recall that a lot of my problems started once I installed it.

OS: Windows XP Media Center Edition

Run a virus scan or reformat/system restore, or give up on this until you get your External HD.

Thanks for the help, guys. I guess I'll just get that external and wait it out.
