The command prompt itself cannot compile source code. But most compilers allow for certain commands to be made via the command prompt that lead back to it.

so what you say is there's a command that can compile source code but this command is known to the command prompt only if a compiler is installed on the computer?

Get the intel compiler, that's command line.

Code:
icl SourceFile.cpp


That's the basic was to compile into an exe, you can add switches for optimisation and stuff.

oh great thx
i don't have intel's compiler but i tried out the visual studio's cmd
and the command is 'cl' not 'icl'
thanks anyway :]
btw how come it doesn't work with C# files ?
