India was controlled by the Gupta Empire, then the Mauryan Empire, and then the Mogul. The Gupta empire enforced Hinduism, but did not have a centralized government unlike the Mauryans. The Gupta empire was controlled by Chandragupta, and the Mauryans was controlled by Ashoka. They all had a caste system which made India a stable economy.
