Right now my dell 3000 has 256 ram and i'm thinking to upgrade it to 1gb. The only reason y i don't want to get 2gb is cuz i'm going to get a laptop in the spring for college. I want to have a fast computer when i play counter strike. Should i stay and play with 256 ram till i get my laptop or should i go and upgrade to 1gb. How much more of a difference will i see? Thanks

256MB? My friend's old machine has that much and it still used 164Pinn SDRAM.
Problem with this is that this shit is EXPENSIVE.
While I can buy 1gig of 180pinn DDR ram [More expensive than DDR2, still], it costs more [~7$+ more] for half the capacity. D:

A bit of a cheaper option would be to grab to sticks of 512mb and chuck them in. Obviously the result will be less then 2GB's of ram added in but it will definitely be cheaper and give you much better results than 256mb.

I think 1 gig will work fine for CS.
