I have Weird Al's latest album and it has a format so that one side will play in CD player and the other side shows videos for some of them on DVD. When I put the disc in my computer DVD drive I wait for PowerDVD to initialize and instead I here this loud scratching noise. I took the disc out and all around the edges are these large scratches. Now whenever I play certain songs including White 'N Nerdy, the song slows down. At the point of the second verse starting it goes:
THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ME ROOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL OOOOON MYYYYYYYYY SEEEEEEEEEEEEEGWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.
It happens for a while and obviously it happened to a few others too.
I put it in the CD drive with the DVD side up and It says 'no disc in drive.'
Why won't it work on my computer? (which if it helps is a Windows XP)

| Wait, what does the R mean? I did try copying it to a CD. I made my own little collab of Weird Al called Armageddon with my favorite songs of his. The songs with the slow error carried the error to my discs.

CDR means CD Read. You can only read stuff from it once you've written to it.
Same with DVDR. If it was CDRW or DVDRW you could write to it read from it and write to it again.

You must have scratched the disc quite a bit. You can do what was previously suggested (burning on to a new CD/DVD) but if you find that the songs are still messed up, then you might need to look into some data resurrection and restoration programs. One great program that I've used before is CD Check which scans for bad sectors and attempts to restore them.
Next time be careful when placing in your CD's/DVD's. You obviously didn't position it right so that the disc got messed up.
