It seemed as if the hand of death had brushed against his face. He knew tonight, he was going to die. James couldn’t breath, and every breath he took felt like a hot metal scythe slicing through his lungs. His insides burned, and he couldn’t do anything to stop it, he was left to lie there, suffering. His mouth seemed too be stitched shut, for every attempt to scream for help, only maniacal laughter could be heard, deep inside, echoing inside his head, like a splinter in his mind. His eyes cried tears of blood, which was now streaming down his face, flowing at the satisfaction of the laughter, growing ever louder in his head. His body felt like stone, every movement halted, his entire attempt to save himself failed.
For a moment, everything stood still. James didn’t think, he didn’t try to move; he just lay there as the darkness consumed the rest of him that was alive. His eyes rolled inside his head and at the moment, James Matthews was dead. The blood stopped flowing, his body grew limp, and whatever ethereal force was plaguing him, left his body, for it no longer served its purpose there. His hand fell down to beside his bed, as the last of the blood that was on his dead, cold body, dripped onto the floor.
