I have never made a program in my life. I have no experience in any programming language. I don't know what the heck I need or could use to help me. Can someone please PLEASE help me along? Maybe a guide or a link to a site would help a lot.

Some general questions.
What is the best language to use and learn?
What tools will help make things easier?
What do I need to start off?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are "If" and "else" in C++ as well, don't know what you are trying to talk about or maybe you are talking about hmmm True or True = True?

okay.

1. Start with vb.net and progress to C++.
2. Well I use Visual Basic Express Edition by Microsoft
3. All you need is Visual Basic Express Edition and google. (google this: vb.net tut)

yea.

WARNING: it's called visual basic, but it's actually vb.net there's a difference.

Don't suggest people learn an outdated, depreciated, and unused language lol. It wont get them anywhere.

For starters, you are asking on this forum, so one would assume your purpose of wanting to learn how to program is to create trainers and other hacks. With that..

Language to learn: There is no best, every language is created for a specific purpose. My opinion for you though, is to either go with C/C++ or ASM if you plan to use it specifically for game hacking. If you want to move into a job with your programming skill, learn C/C++ first, then move into C#.

Things to make it easier: This is all based on the language. For C/C++, I highly suggest not touching DevC++, and instead, use Visual Studio 2008. You can download the free express edition which is more then enough to use for learning and such. (Its free, doesn't run out, all you have to do is register it after 30 days. Which doesn't cost anything.)

Your own research is always helpful. Get to know some communities that focus specifically on that language. There are tons of C/C++. Google is your biggest friend when it comes to programming. You can find tutorials, articles, helpful hints, code, etc. which will be more then enough to help you get what you need to learn. You should never have to buy a book while you have access to the internet. Everything you will find in a book can be found online.

Keep a positive outlook and attitude. If you don't understand something, find another tutorial on the subject. Don't just give up. Chances are you just need to read a different tutorial about the subject for it to click.

Avoid copy pasting anything, ever. You wont learn by copying other peoples code. And if you must copy code, give credit, and take the time to learn what the code does. Read up on what it does, read up on the API it may use, debug it yourself and see how it flows, etc.

Where to start: Like any language you need to start by getting a compiler and an IDE (if you want one). Like suggested, you can get Visual Studio 2008 express from Microsoft for free. Just goto Microsoft.com and search for Visual Studio and you will find what you need. Be sure to read through things carefully. You need the Platform SDK as well to compile anything.

You should start by setting up the IDE, getting to know the IDE itself that you will be using, and learn how to use its features. This way you are familiar with it when you start programming.

Once you get that done, work on some basic tutorials. Hello World programs are always a good start to getting used to syntax, and such.

I feel silly for taking Visual Baisc 6 in school last year, oh well, it was an Easy A+.

Also if you learn Visual Basic first you'll see that it is not that powerful and you will want to switch to C/C++. Switch from VB6 to C/C++ is very hard, because VB6 teaches you stuff that are very combersome.

I think you should start off with asm. Cause you really need to understand it before starting to hack games.
