I used to have a dynamic IP address, then someone switched me to a static IP address so i could download torrents or something.

anyways, is there any way of switching back to a dynamic IP? >_>?

what do you mean by someone switched you to a static IP? who, ISP?

huh >_>

i couldnt use torrents well cuz of some portfoward crap, and so a friend came along and they like changed my IP to static and not it never changes.

which is bad for me.

which is why i want a dynamic again >_>

this was long ago.

well if your friends modified your router settings, you could always reset it and the settings would return to default.

a static internal IP is necessary if you are behind a router...
your public IP will still change every time you disconnect from the internet.

to prove this go to http://whatismyip.com/ then turn off your router and turn it back on again, wait a minute or so to reconnect then go there again.

Ever heard of DHCP?

Few minutes isn't enough for everyone. It depends on their DHCP when it does release the address. Might be half an hour, hour or something..

My Network Places>Properties>Double Click Your LAN>Properties>Select TCP/IP>Properties. Look at those.
