Yeah I think using 2 monitors is a waste. Unless it's a laptop and you want a bigger projection... Alt Tab works fine for me. Besides it's going to waste your time and distract you.

I like having two monitors because I can have my instant messaging and music open over on one and still play a game on the other or pay attention to that screen while using the other, I use 2 of the same old big bulky compaq's and they work fine for me, Plus it just looks cool in general.

Dual monitors is basically just one big screen made from two monitors. It's not two separate computers, so the mouse just glides through both of the monitors as if it was one long wide monitor.

you move your mouse to the edge of the screen. you pick which monitor is the left and which is the right, and then you use them as if they're one large, widescreen monitor.

One 22" widescreen for the webpage/application I'm using fullscreen, and 2 more for MSN windows and WMP.
To those saying multiple monitors are a waste, you've obviously never experienced them. It's annoying as fuck to cycle through windows when you have a bunch of MSN windows open when you can have more screen area with them arranged neatly.
