The fastest OS and the easiest one to find would be linux... Some version of linux... That has no GUI at all.

GUI = Graphical User interface...
Something that has no GUI looks like your command prompt...
So pictured cmd.exe covering your whole screen, and you cant get out of it.

^^ Thats wrong... most of the commands are similar to exactly the same as cmd....
You can always do <program name> --help to get the help file...
They have a great chat support ( 1000000000000000000x better than Windows)
and its free.

Linux is a kernel, so you need to find an OS ( google Linux Distros ). Yes. You, yourself, said it was an old computer... so how are you going to play games?
and no it cant.

This is a stupid.
I kinda want to say DOS would technically be in a way, due to easy, direct access to all the hardware.

Not all Linux distros use a command line, and you can't really game on Linux.
Just strip down your version of XP with nLite.

Copy the contents of your XP disc to a folder on your hard drive. Open that folder with nLite, customize it as much as you please, then it'll let you burn the modified disc.
