yea, an hour ago, when i booted up my pc and logged in, the wallpaper was black, no taskbar, no desktop icons and no sidebar. luckilly it automaticly opened my documents, from which i could open internet explorer.
but now the question, what can i do about this problem? i've run a virus scan on AVG 30 day trial, but that hasn't worked.
things i did yesterday
-got my new sound card in
-uninstalled Norton Internet Suckurity
-went unprotected to the AVG website
-downloaded and installed AVG
what can i do about this problem? (reformat or system recovery is my last resort, so i'll try other options first)
i've got every update available except for SP1.

press ctrl+shitf+escape
File -> Run -> explorer.exe
if it then runs, then you've probably got a virus or something colliding that's preventing explorer from running
i'd do a system recovery if i were you by:
opening up a run prompt (start flag + r)
and type:
restore/rstrui

no worries mate. and if this happens again, which it probably will, then just system restore or remove anything that your computer might not like.
