|
|
Hey, my Motherboard, CPU, and Hardware recently failed. I bought new parts to replace the old ones. This computer's fairly old (around the Pentium 4 era). I was limited to resources as most of it was outdated and/or discontinued.
The problem is that I cannot install Windows. Well, I can, but something is preventing it from being installed on the system. I'm trying an installation of Windows XP SP2 (32-bit, torrented). I read the sticky on Hardware failure, and there was none.
-> After formatting the disk (I tried both options of NTSF). As soon as it hits the copying files stage of the installation, my computer reboots at random files.
-> The CPU temperature averages around 40-45 degrees celcius after watching it for 30 minutes.
-> The installation disk is unmodified
As you can see, I'm stumped. Googling didn't work, so I thought I'd resort to CEF
Hardware:
- Intel Pentium 4 Prescott @ 3.0 GHz, 800 FSB
- Foxconn 661MX Plus Mobo
- OCZ DDR-400 512 MB x2 (2.5-3-3-7 timings)
- Onboard Video Card (my AGP slot one failed -.-)
- Pioneer DVR-110BK
If I overlooked an important detail in this simple task, please bear with me. If I left out some descriptions, please do notify me.
Thanks in advance (tried to keep it as short as I can, but also easy to read).

P4 era's really not that old.
You mean Pentium 4 right?
I have Pentium D so don't worry.

Okay, it worked after using another Windows XP disk. Thanks, but now I feel dumb
Only problem now is the computer will restart on different occasions, whether it be installing MS Office, to opening a movie. I'll research more on that.

Probably heat problems, check your temperatures and come back.
