I could probably build it from $2500-$3000 (depending on the prices of the other components like the case and motherboard).
Don't buy your stuff from Dell, and if you're going to get a high end desktop like that one, you should learn how to build one yourself. You'll not only benefit from higher performing parts, but also a much lower price.
There are much better system setups than this one. The CPU itself costs slightly under $1000. It would have been better if more money was spent on the graphics card (or graphics cards), and less money spent on the hard drives and CPU.

Go onto NewEgg, you can buy all those parts seperate for like 1/3 to 1/2 the price of that full prebuilt system.

For $5k, it should have better than a last-generation card at least, and it's not even the best card of the last generation.
Not worth even close to that.

Why do you need 2 Tb? i mean Thats lots of space, 500GB+ is good but 1TB+ is for like downloading HD movies, anime, crazy amounts of games, TONS of pictures.
Dont goto the TB section unless you download like crazy or download lots of shows.
Also try getting a ATI Radeon HD 4870, I heard is out peforms the popular nvidia cards,If you bought it earlier you could have gotten one around 170 bucks.
edit: actually i re-checked, Newegg actually sells only 2 Radeon HD 4870 at the price 174 bucks.

Yep, you missed the GTX series, the 260 and 280.

Performance RAID = RAID 0, for increased read/write speed, not data backup.
Vista Ultimate is probably the best of the Vista line, it gives you the mos control over the operating system. But you'll have to pay more.
The build has an overpowered processor (thus an underpowered GPU), an extra 2GB of RAM that most people won't use, an extra drive that isn't necessary, and a sound card, where the onboard should work well, depending on the model.
