Check what motherboard you have by downloading CPU-Z.
Install CPU-Z and run it. Go to the Mainboard tab and Google the specifications of your motherboard (under Model).
Check whether your motherboard is DDR, or DDR2. The RAM speed can be downclocked, so it won't hurt to buy RAM faster than the supported speeds.

Google the parts and check the memory type or those and the ram.

I think you should have checked before buying it. There are many types of RAM so you might have guessed wrong. The most common way to check RAM is of course look at the RAM sticks that you have now and it will tell you on the LABEL that starts with DDR something < That is the type of RAM. Or just see if your RAM fits by seeing if the pins line up with the slot in the mobo and see if the "notch" fits into the plastic protruding out from the slot.

Having SDRAM doesn't help. DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 all are forms of SDRAM.
Unless Dell means SDR RAM, then that information is useless.
Just get DDR2, like you stated earlier.

Your original information was wrong. The Intel 845 chipset supports DDR 200/266, not DDR2. PC133 is DDR 266, while PC100 is DDR 200. DDR is what you will need, not DDR2.
