thinking of buying this pc

here are the specs

-19inch lcd monitor
-Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600
-Vista Home Premium
-3 GB Ram
-320 GB Hard Drive
-Dual Layer 16x DVD burner

Total Price $729 With the monitor

Its a Dell Btw

I already thinking of buying a 512Mb 8600 Gt Video Card

Do you think for gaming like crysis(and a litle lower gaming then that) that would be good?

Suggestions ?

I could build it $650-$700. Not a bad deal though. What video card are you going to put in there? Make sure your power supply has enough to power the video card you are using, plus the remaining parts.

With the monitor.

Approximate Prices:

Monitor: $150 (as low as $100)
Q6600: $200 (as low as $180)
Vista Home Premium: $120 (as low as $100)
3GB of RAM: $30 (as low as $20)
320GB Hard Drive: $50
DVD Burner: $30

Case: $20 (as low as... free)
Power Supply: $20 (also can be free)

LOL, I made it for less than I did before, only $500 this time. My prices might be off slightly, and I know that Dell monitors are expensive and weaker than competitors (Samsung is good, and costs about the same).

Crysis on 8600GT+ Q6600 = major bottleneck and not great at 1440x900 (native resolution of 19" monitors, although some are 1680x1050)

An 8800GT slightly bottlenecks it, but not a lot (1-5%). An HD4850, or a 9800GTX+ should be good enough, but they don't provide great price/performance. In this case, the best card would be the 8800GT for about $100.

Yeah, I'd go with the HD4850, too.

512MB for running on 19"+ monitors (like yours) or using lots of AA and AF. 256MB for lower resolutions without so much AA and AF.

I personally would go with EVGA, or any other brand that has a lifetime warranty. EVGA mostly because of the lifetime warranty, and you can still return the card even if your overclock failed (but it doesn't happen a lot when you know the limits of your card). Their video cards work (the 2 that we have do, and for quite some time), and they send mail-in rebates.

Friend just got one for $120 with rebates (I think, it might've been $130.) It was EVGA so you could probably find a cheaper one from a different company.

If you're wanting to play games like crysis, I'd suggest an 8800gt if you can afford it. If you're not a huge gamer the 8600gt should be fine.
