CPU/Motherboard/RAM: EVGA nForce 680i SLi + Q6600 + 2GB OCZ SLi-Ready DDR2-800 RAM - $350
GPU: ATi Radeon 4850 - $244 - yeah, I know it's an ATi, I'd opt for an 8800GT if the price was lower
CPU Cooler: OCZ Vindicator - $49 - they don't sell many good CPU coolers
Hard Drive: Western Digital SE16 500GB - $80
Case: Thermaltake Soprano - $74 - although it doesn't matter a whole lot, this one looked good at an acceptable price
PSU: [url=OCZ StealthXStream 500W - $54[/url]
DVD Drive: Sony 20X DVD Burner - $30

Without the monitor is $881 (without tax)

Monitor: Acer X193Wb 19" Wide - $190

With the monitor is $1071 (without tax)

No it's complete crap to his.

That 4850 just came out, it's pretty nice.

The 8800GS is not complete crap, it has a lot of overclocking headroom and once overclocked, you can surpass 8800GT performance at lower resolutions.

Yes, the 4850 is a powerful video card. But it doesn't offer much value if you compare by percentages in terms of performance. If you do the math, $140 (for the 8800GS) times 1.3 (4850 is approximately 30% faster than the 8800GS), you come out with $182, which is how much the 4850 should be priced at. But still, you aren't going to get the 8800GS at 4850 speeds. I would recommend either one of them, they are both great cards. It's just more if you need a monitor or not.

You'll want to have a keyboard, mouse, and speakers, so it should all add up to about $950.
