Also, a few days back I had a big problem with all my browsers...
Every time I tried going to any page, it would take forever and before it was even done loading a page, my modem would disconnect from internet o.O

This happens every once in a while.....

You say not to say FireFox,
But as you are having problems with the well known code of IE. It is very easy to get rouge crap scripts to infect your pc. I dont really see why anyone would use it.
But to address your problem. There is a registry key for IE, that lets windows knows if it is installed or not. Set it to 0 and then reinstall the version you wish. It wont give you this error about installing the older one. |

Hes using a beta version which is bound to have errors. Notes from Microsoft:
| Quote: | If Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 and Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) Release Candidate (RC) are installed on the same computer, uninstall them in the reverse order in which you installed them. For example, if you installed Windows XP SP3 RC and then installed Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1, uninstall Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 before you uninstall Windows XP SP3 RC.
In Windows Vista and in Windows XP, make sure that you uninstall the German or Chinese (Simplified) version of Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 before you install an English version of Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1. If you do not do this, Internet Explorer 8 may not function correctly or may not be installed when you try to install the English version of Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1.
If you install Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 first and then upgrade to Windows XP Service Pack 3, you be unable to remove Internet Explorer 8. That option will be disabled. To work around this issue, uninstall Windows XP Service Pack 3 first. When you do this, the remove option is enabled. Then, you can uninstall Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1.
We recommend that you uninstall Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 before you upgrade to Windows XP Service Pack 3 and then install Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1. When you do this, you can easily uninstall Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 if you have to. |
Basically, if you have SP3 and IE8 installed, goto Add/Remove Programs and uninstall them in the reverse order.
If you installed SP3 first, then IE8:
1.) Uninstall IE8
2.) Uninstall SP3 (If you want to..)
If you installed IE8 first, then SP3:
1.) Uninstall SP3
2.) Uninstall IE8
After you uninstall IE8 it will roll back to the previous installed version. You may need to reinstall IE7 then though. _________________
