|
|
| Ordered all my parts got it built computer worked fine for a week or two. Now it won't turn on and the light on the back of my power supply doesn't even turn on. I've moved it around the house, tested the power cord, tested the outlets and fuses... Is it truly dead or is there something I can do to fix it? It's a Panther atx power supply that I bought on newegg for a little over 20 bucks, crappy little thing but one I could afford.

Does it power your computer fully? Maybe you burned it out because the wattage your computer needs is more then this power supply can handle.

You lucky you didn't fry your whole damn computer.
the Power Supply is agruably one of the most important parts of your computer. Get a bad one, nothing works or it could fry your computer.
A power supply is something you DO NOT want to be cheap about.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
The problem with cheap PSU's is they aren't cheaper. You spent $20 that's now gone, you very well could have destroyed other parts that would cost a decent amount, and now you still have to buy a new PSU.

Also, for example, you cannot really buy a bad or faulty CPU. You can buy an old out of date one, but at least it will be from a trusted brand (Intel/AMD).

| ...If it fried everything... Damn it. Well this is bad news. I don't know what wattage I need though. Is there a way to find out?

| Yeah, I got it in the mail. -_- I don't know the full system specs, and I used my friends Newegg account to purchase them. I just know I have a dvd burner, 500gig Sata hard drive with haxed xp, keyboard/mouse/monitor, Elitegroup A770M-A Mobo with AMD 770 chipset, dual core processer of some sort. intel I think, 2 gigs of ram, couple fans in case and one with the processor, decent video card that had nwn2 with it. As for upgrades i'm not looking to upgrade for a long time.

| Crap, i'd need to save 50 more bucks for that. I need something near $40 that'll work. There's a large (For here) Lan party in a couple weeks and I don't have any time. -__- I've still gotta pull some games for it and download my goddam sound drivers.
