ok there is the times 8 method and the times 4 method are there any else and if so when do i know to use them?

there is *1 if you want to use the original value
*2 if you want to shift the bits 1 bit to the left and have a 0 in place
*4 is you want to shift the bits 2 bits to the left and have 2 0's in place
*8 is you want to shift the bits 3 bits to the left and have 3 0's in place
*16 is you want to shift the bits 4 bits to the left and have 4 0's in place
*32 is you want to shift the bits 5 bits to the left and have 5 0's in place
*64 is you want to shift the bits 6 bits to the left and have 6 0's in place
