well im a junior in high school and my school is very poor and has almost no business courses. Well i want to go to college for something around or in the fields of Computer Science, Computer Tech, Networking, or Computer Engineering. so i was just going to try to get a head start since like everyone else does in high school so i am planning on teaching my self.
so basically what i am asking besides ASM what kinda of programming or things should i attempt to teach my self to help for college?
sorry if kinda off topic.

C/C++
Also, I would suggest getting yourself familiar with the .NET framework if you plan to go into a business field. I would suggest using C# for that.

If you want to o into the field of gaming, I suggest you learn C++, that is what I'm doing. Making games, real games with pictures and moving characters, is hard as hell.

Yeah, it is HARD AS HELL, and also the salary is lower, than in Business application programming industry.

You obviously know jack about what you're coming out with systat.
Programming, for a job prospect, C++ hands down.
Whether you get involved with the .NET Framework will depend on where you want to be. It seems that a lot of apps now would require you to have an understanding of .NET. It is definately a consideration despite all its downfalls.

Easiest way to learn is to download a commercial compiler for your language and read the documentation. Most books are outdated and don't teach you some stuff. The documentation is long, but just skimming through all the pages will get you familiar with the language. Visual Studio 2008 is good for C/C++ and Delphi 2007 is good for Delphi.

learn object oriented programming. Either Java, or C#, but other languages that support object oriented programming are usefull as well like Delphi and PHP (talking about object oriented programming in PHP, not the flat programming method)
Also if you like programming I recommend moving to a low salary country. I'm a software engineer and often I design software on paper (word docs) and sometimes instead of implementing it ourself, we just outsource the programming part to another country that'll do it for less leaving us with time developing other stuff and testing

Loving all the respect of C#!
Anyways, on the topic:
I'm thinking that C++ will probably be better for programming in the long run, as it teaches you good habits and what not, and is usually easier to go from there than to there. If you're thinking about business, then, agreeing with Wicc here, you should probably learn about the .NET framework, as it's most likely easiest to find a job in that industry.
Usually though, with the sudden uprising of programming needs across the market, whatever language you choose will be fine--just make sure you're good at it.

Computer engineer deals with the computer hardware.
Computer science deals mainly with the software.
Although in both, some things you learn are the same.
