I brought a laptop to school, and my teacher has a projector and I just assumed that it would work if I used a VGA cable to connect both the projector to Laptop and it fits but the projector doesn't "recognize it". So am I missing a step? There isn't an instruction manual. So are there more steps that I need to do?

Yes i know what your talking about, guys try to do the same thing at Texas A&M when they want to show something over a projector.
It is weird, because some laptops will not see it and others work first try.
I have personally never done this, so i cant really help.
Only suggest you need a driver maybe.

Yes! Excellent, just a little tinkering with the monitor settings and I got it. No need for this thread now =]. It was running vista too btw, so I don't think older laptops can see it or drivers would need to be installed.
