ASCII (Multi-Byte) only allows 256 different charecters i believe.. while unicode has a mass ammount.

Edit: Unicode has up to 65,536 different characters.

So unicode is only faster because the kernel is written using it? That's incredibly lame. Unicode should take twice as long for any procedure because it uses 2 bytes instead of 1, right? Slowing down the processing speed for 65,280 characters nobody uses seems like a load of crap to me.
