Either a mod chip, or swap tricks.
Mod chips are a lot more powerful but you void your warranty, which probably isn't a big deal. Plus swap tricks are cheaper, and you can do it all yourself no worries.
A slow burn-speed and some decent DVD-R's like maxell, verbatim..that sort of stuff is the better quality stuff to use.

Sadly, if you use swap, some cheats like Action Replay won't work, and it'll be lacking a lot of other stuff I can't think of right now. The best and cheapest mod chip that I use is DUO 3 Ultra.

The best DVDs you could ever use are Taiyo Yudens, but they are very expensive, and there are some fake manufacturers. I had a pack of Taiyo Yudens for a year, but I was dumb, and I didn't figure it out until I had like 2 left that they were the best to use. I wasted them on lots of stuff I didn't need Razz.

Don't use RWs, I have read that sometimes they have issues with them. Don't use cheap DVDs, cause they often cause game freezing/crashing, or movie/CG lag. Which means, when a cutscene or movie is appearing, after like, 2 - 5 seconds, it will freeze for 2 seconds, then play, then freeze, and so on.

Ahh no worries, just get an old Xploder CD/DVD, and use those.
They work spot on with most games. Load the cheats, put in the swap magic, and the game finally as usual. Works fine with all the stuff I had (<- yeah had..sadly Sad).
And yeh, taiyo yudens are the awesome ones from the factories in japan, w00t w00t. You will get certain brands of discs actually been made there even though you might not think it. Verbatims for example, which is why I mentioned it.
If you run one of the blank discs through something like nero infotool, you can obtain the manufacturer ID and other useful info from the disc itself. Its always handy to see if you have a fake batch or not Smile
Burn at 4x or less too when backing stuff up... ooo, lol, that'll be my 2 cents on this topic...
