How much did you use it? Have a cd/dvd drive you could replace it with to test?

tsstcorp...is if i'm not mistaken... toshiba & samsung joint storage technology.
I have one as it goes...mine been a SATA variant.
It might be worth you updating the firmware. Its similar to a bios flash, but for the drive. Its usually quite harmless, easy to do.
Get the files here
Download it, run it, update, reboot the PC.
At the same time, this will make windows re-find and re-install the drive, therefore eliminating any windows glitches.
Other than that there isn't anything you can do, in the way of software changes like services and such.
It may be that the drive is dying on you, even though they have been great with me for years, they do eventually go bad.
Hope it helps

@savior I've used it for gaming for about 2 years the first part to go was the cd part one day when nero messed up and now I've lost my dvd side to. > And no, no backup. Whats funny here is I can still play warcraft without the cd in now lolz.
@psych Tried the live install but it doesn't find any compatible version heres what I get when I try:
TS-H552B HP08 It does not support
NCL263D 1.0 It does not support
DVD/CD-ROM 2.7a It does not support o.0
I really hope it hasn't died yet it'll be a while before I could get a new one. >.<

I checked it out, seems other people were puzzled over this drive too.
SamsungODD.com removed it from their databases. It is still unknown why, but it probably caused more issues than it was released to solve.
It could be from issues with certain DVD-Media to laser power calibration issues, which i've seen before.
I'm sorry, I can't think of anything else to suggest.

OK guess I'll take the drive out and clean it or something maybe it's only got dust blocking it. *hopeful* But goodness gracious this drive isn't easy to open. >:(
Thanks for all the help.
