If you do than free steam account with the orange box. I'll have second opinions :]

For gaming and hacking.

DO NOT NEED MONITOR, KEYBOARD, WIRES, OR MOUSE!

2 questions:
1. How much are you willing to spend?
2. What kinds of games will you be playing?

EDIT: Will get right on it.

these kinds of topics shouldn't be allowed

if you can't at least TRY to put a list together, you shouldn't be building.

We've allowed the building of computers here since this section began, and they will continue to be allowed. Even I don't know what's best to get for my money, but I can put them together.

@thread starter, are you in the US?

You could probably build a wicked ass computer with 2k... But you dont really need 2k to build a great computer. I built a great computer that will last me a long time for under 1k.. With 2k You should be set with a computer for a VERY long time.

Oh, dear. That certainly throws a wrench into my plan. Newegg removed the Antec 900 off their site.

Don't believe me? Check their site.

I suggest you wait 'till the Antec 1200 is released.

Format is like:
Part: <item> - <$price before shipping>
<link>
<comments>

Motherboard: EVGA 790i SLI Motherboard $349.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188025
God, I would like to stick 3 9800 GX2s in this. Seriously.

Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 $53.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119068
Due to the lack of the Antec 900 for at least another 2 weeks, this case should work alright.

CPU: Q6600 (quad core) Kentsfield 2.4GHz $239.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017
Just make this run at 3GHz+. Easy.

HDD (Main): WD Raptor 150GB $169.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136012
HDD (Storage): WD Caviar 500GB $89.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073
The Raptor is the fastest drive I know of; use it at your main drive and use the Caviar for storage.

GPU: EVGA 9800GTX $299.99 x 2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130339
9800GTX only $300? That's almost $100 cheaper than an 8800GTX. Wow.
I felt it necessary to push the $2000 budget and even then I had a bit of trouble. This will run anything.

RAM: Corsair (2 x 1GB) 1333MHz DDR3 $119.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145183
It's DDR3. The motherboard wants it.

Disk drive: Generic ASUS DVD burner $35.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145183
It's a DVD burner. Not much else to say.

PSU: OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU $128.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002
Looks good to me.

TOTAL: $1788.90 - add like $50 for shipping charges.

It isn't $2000, but it's damn close.
Wish I had 2k to blow on a computer like this. >_>

So:
790i tri-SLI capable motherboard.
Cooler master Centurion 5
2.4GHz Q6600 CPU
HDD1: 150GB WD Raptor
HDD2: 500GB WD Caviar
2 x 9800GTX GPU (If 1 8800GT can handle Crysis, Imagine what this would do to it. Holy fucking shit)
2GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM
Generic DVD burner
700W PSU (Something needs to run 2 9800GTXs >_>)

Alternate case:
Antec 900 (the case of the gods)
http://www.antec.com/Detail.bok?no=523
It's currently out of stock on Newegg, so it's either take the case I suggested before (which isn't that great) or go out of your way and order an antec 900 directly from antec.com.

If you still have 200+$ left over, you might as well go for 4GB or 8GB while your at it.
You could just buy another one of the RAM that you have there already. Which would give you 4GB total for only 119$ more, and then you'd be set for almost everything for a long time.
