|
|
| Whenever I turn on my computer I get the message, Verifiying DMI Pool Data. I assume It's doing something as it says "Verifying". I leave it on for one hour, and nothing happens. I search on Google and it says some things, but I'm not really good with computers and I don't understand what they're trying too say.

Its the interface between the bios and the operating system
Passes certain information to the operating system.
It should just be on that for a few seconds then move on...
I suppose the most obvious things to ask are, how long has it been doing this, when did it first start, and what was the last thing you were doing on it?

| Well I'm using Vista and I was restoring my computer to an earlier time. It was half way, then my computer shutdown because my house electricity shutdown for a few minutes, then when I turn it on, it says that. It started about on Friday.

Verifying DMI pool data means that your hard drive is deleted, blank, or gone. This happened to me on one occasion when I attempted to overwrite my Windows Vista with Windows XP. Since the hard drive wasn't formatted to XP's file type, it gave me the Verifying DMI Pool data message because it couldn't load the hard drive (which was blank). Verifying DMI Pool data is a function that verifies your hard drive's consistency. Since your hard drive is most likely blank at the moment, you're going to keep getting that message because there is no hard drive to verify.

Don't be silly! It means nothing of the sort...

Complete BS.
This takes places before windows loads, just after posts... honestly

I had this problem with a PC I was fixing for an old neighbor. God it took forever to get it to boot. I ended up pulling the HD out, sticking it in an old PC and loading the OS, then replacing it. Worked after I got all the settings right.
this may help you.

What does verifying DMI pool data mean?
In: Windows
DMI or DesktopManagement Interface is a layer of abstraction between system components and the software that manages them. The System Management BIOS (SMBIOS) is an extension of the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) that formulates and delivers this information to the operating system. The pool data is the information. In short, when the BIOS is "Verifying DMI pool data" it is verifying the table of data it sends to the operating system (Windows, etc.).

I'm thinking either your BIOS settings are corrupt, or your hard drive or some other hardware has actually been damaged.
That DMI info is nothing to do with the install of windows itself, so install away if you refuse to listen.

| If it's sitting at Verifying DMI pool data, it's usually finished that process but hasn't found a boot device. Check your BIOS to make sure you're booting off the proper drive and it's in the correct order, and if that doesn't work then reformat.

I seriously ROFL'ed..

Technically yes, but the fact that it's sitting at that likely means it finished the DMI check but can't find a boot device, I've seen many boards that acted that way. So for all intents and purposes he's correct.
