Ok, I found one of those laptops ^ today, it is extremely new looking, infact it still had plastic coverings over some of the buttons and what not..
Anyways I need to know why it won't turn on, whenever i press the power button a little "lightning bolt" icon flashes 3 times then thats it...
Could this be because it needs to be charged? If so, which adapter works for it? because I attempted using a different laptop adapter but it didn't work.
Any help understanding what may be wrong with it, or if I am going to need to find/buy an adapter is greatly appreciated.
EDIT: by found it.. I mean I literally found it lying outside near a bench.

| I think it's worth a shot since it could be the problem with a $850 laptop, and also the solution.

yeah, thats what I am thinking.
lol even if I have to pay 100$ or so for an adapter, it's still potentially well worth it. (just so long as thats all that is wrong)
Lol, I just need help figuring out what adapter is needed for this.

I bet the battery is dead, or non-working.
Hp's troubleshooting.
The battery.(If you can't use any of the retailers that this site links you to, you will know the battery part number so you can find it where you are. The dv9000 series look like they use the same battery. At least your laptop uses the same battery as the dv9000.)
The charger.(First one on that list is the AC charger fyi.)
Man I wish that I found that laptop... Though I don't want/need another 17", I'd probably sell it though and buy a different laptop.

Also considering it's still like new and missing the adapter. It possibly was stolen then ditched there? Or someone was using it but then got kidnapped thus it being left there?

No, it's clearly the one who got it stolen or the guy that ditched its computer.

or it could have been used for child pornography and the guy ditched it cause the cops drove past. /sarcasm
i say keep it, finders keepers.
if the rest of you found 500k sitting in a bag in the street would you give that to the police, not like the real owner would get it back afterwords anyway. plus insurance should cover it if they get it back now after claiming on it they get done for insurance fraud.
anyway try plugging the laptop into an external monitor to make sure there is not a fault with the build in tft, since you say the little light flash's it sounds like it still has some power in it.
