Whenever I open CheatEngine 5.4 OR 5.3, I get an error that says "Failed to set data for first time user." Then I will hit o.k. and it opens cheat engine. Then when I will connect it to a window/process and do a value scan. (I have tried all of the searches. (4 byte 2 byte etc. etc.) Then it pops up an error screen that says "Scan error: controller: No redable memory found." What can I do to fix it?

make sure you run ce as admin

I believe in the installation of it there is an option saying "make available for all users".
You probably should re-install it with that option ticked.

| First of all, I was an admin for installing AND running. Still didn't work. Second of all, when I reinstalled it, I didn't see an option saying anything about all users. Are you maybe talking about a different version? I didn't re-install CE 5.3, but I did re-install CE 5.4. |

reset the settings and see if that helps:
start->programs->cheat engine 5.4->reset settings
also, did you download ce 5.4 from www.cheatengine.org ?
And another thing, try disabling your anti-virus. some of them delete files without asking

What antivirus do you have. I had the same problem to, I use norton antivirus. Just post again and tell me what virus protector you have then I will say hey to make cheat engine work.

Actually guys, I managed to get ONE of my CEs working by reinstalling and using the reset settings button. Thank you for all of your help.  I will post in this topic if I need any more help. Thank you for yours.  |
