i think a great idea for db is to make a usermode cheat engine, here's why:

some people (like me) wanna make trainers/mem edit unprotected games, so instead of loading the driver just for a simple task and then reboot each time, make a cheatengine that normaly does everything just without using your own copy of the apis.

then just don't tick anything in settings->extra and it's all usermode

and if you want to use your own copy of the apui's in usermode just put ina plugin that changes the api table to the copies
