i have VB6, and visual basics 2005.NET express edition...what one would probably be the best to learn? i already know some about VB6, don't know alot...but just wondering, since my computer cant take any more things downloaded....im stuck with these 2 languages
EDIT::i also have delphi and dev C++

Don't pick VB or VB.NET, I don't like them, not too powerful.
Forget about Dev-C++, go with Visual C++.
I* never learned anything about Delphi, so I don't know what to say about it.

You will never hear a positive response about VB on these forums. If you choose to learn it great for you, it is your choice, don't live your life listening to others all the time.
Of the languages you gave, I would suggest you learn C/C++ though. It will probably get you the furthest in programming later on down the road.

man if you know anything about .NET then do not say vb.net is slow
it is as fast as C#.NET cause when it is compiled it gererates the same code, assuming option strict on,option explicit on,integer overflow check off and compiler optimations on..
try it yourself with c# vs vb.net code...

Get rida both, DL VB 2008. So easy to use, i've made 8 trainers with it.

You don't download C++, you download a compiler / IDE. Nothings stopping you from writing it in notepad if you feel so inclined to do so.

C# tends to generate slightly better code than VB.NET.

No offense but this is kind of a poor excuse to stop you from learning something else other then what you already have. Delete stuff if there is a space issue on your hard drive. Windows XP itself takes up at most 3-4gigs of space. If your computer is somewhat old you probably have at least 20gigs of space. Thats ~15gigs of crap you can get rid of. VS2005/2008 do take up some space, but it's nothing you can't make space for.
Not to mention, although I wouldn't suggest anything other then Visual Studio, you can get a ton of different compilers and IDE's for C/C++, just like slovach said also, you can code in notepad. Then all you will need is a compiler. Which there are plenty of them on the net and a lot of them are free.

If you choose Visual C++ or Regular C/C++ then just delete the others off of your computer and then download it, it's as simple as this.
1. Clear soem of the crap off your computer and download the on you choose.
2. Buy some mor ememory for your computer.
Speakign of which how much crap do you have on your computer?
