Well i just have some questions
I know overclocking speeds up your computer and makes it run faster...
So is there any program for it ? Or is it a chipset you put in your Tower
Can i do it? with my AMD 3500+, 2.21Ghz?
Or with a Intel Pentuim 4?

the BIOS
idk
and i i would suggest you over-clock it as much as you possibly can j/k j/k
be carefull because you could also half the life of your components and kill your computer like right away.

you can overclock it, but not as extreme as with a pentium 4, world record is on a p4 from 3,2ghz to 5,2ghz. if you're looking for some software to do it Systool is pretty good.
however, watch out with overclocking, faster parts produce more heat, so i would recommend buying new fans to cool it, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, if your processor turns liquid (melting cpu not good) it's not my fault.

| the majority of heat comes from voltage, not mhz.

I don't know anything about overclocking.
Would it be a bad idea for a 1.5GHz Core2Duo?
And what could I take it up to before it starts overheating and causing too much wear on the CPU?

I don't know much about overclocking but I happen to know a couple of people who have tried it without knowing what they were doing and it didn't go that well...
Just want to point out that if you are going to put it into practice, you should really know what you are doing and the limits, because in the cases mentioned above, the individuals over did it and their CPUs did overheat and break (and in one case nearly melt).

To overclock you adjust your FSB in BIOS. There's a Multiplier, the multiplier multiplied by your FSB is the speed of your cpu.
My Computer Ex. E2180 -
Stock : 10x Multiplier 200FSB. 10 times 200 = 2000Mhz = 2Ghz and since it's a dual core CPU. There's two Cores with the speed of 2Ghrz each.
Overclocked : 10x Multiplier 330FSB. 10 Times 330 = 3300Mhz = 3.3Ghz. So two cores with the speed of 3.3Ghz each.
And a 3.2 P4 going up to 5.2 is not a lot, not even a 80% overclock. Don't randomly say it's the world record if you don't know. The highest that has proof is 8.0Ghz with Liquid Nitrogen cooling.

It was 7.1 and it couldn't even boot windows. It could only manage to get into the BIOS. 6.6 was the highest stable in windows.
e: I lied, that was the former one.
Some sicko managed 8.2 practically.
Didn't stop it from still getting beaten by a highly overclocked quad core a mere 3.2ghz slower.

Wow this is pritty intresting, so overclocking increases the spead your CPU processes at. So if i wanted my CPU to be adjusted to run like i dont know say .5 was the safe level so it was not to mcuh more strain on the CPU how would i do that? Also id like to try this but not increase it by much just a VERY small fraction to see what happens how would i figure out my CPU info all i realy know about it is it is a intel centron D

| If you didn't build your computer yourself, it's likely not possible.
