I am currently learning c++. some of the things i want to do are simple programs, but i'd like to add gui's. i know people say you can use winapi or something, but i honestly don't know what it is. visual c++ is a compiler i found and the word visual leads me to think that its you can apply gui's. Basically, i'd like to find a compiler, that allows you to code c++, but have features like an object- orientated program (vb) to apply buttons, boxes. Smile am i just wrong and its a totally different language, or am i right and something is off.
~ty for your help. ~

http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/

Download Visual C++ Express Edition 2008
For GUI's using .NET (object oriented)
Create Project -> CLR -> Windows Forms Application.

Although this is C++, If you want to learn GUI's using .NET id go with C# but its your choice

Once your ready for something more challenging then .NET and still want drag and drop Object oriented GUI's you can move onto C++ using Dialogs ( resource files ). You get the advantage of drag and drop but also learn functional programming.

ive seen people use lik
button.()

or somethin but if u entered code like that in simple c++ to in like a DOS window , would a button form? When u say .NET is that similar to vb and your given a 'grid' and allowed to put things together. or do you program something and then it allows you to apply GUI. ty~

button()?? no.. a button doesnt appear by saying that in a simple c++ dos window. the only way you would get a button or form out of that would be if u made a function named "button" then in that function you created your form using Win32 APIs ( WNDCLASSEX struct, CreateWindowEx, etc. ) or dialogs and then you called "button" somewhere in your dos application.

.NET:
Yes, it gives u a full out window of ur GUI and a toolbox full of things to drop into it. (Menus, buttons, etc.) it also gives you properties and events to choose from.
