Somewhere along the lines Crytek stated that Crysis at it's highest settings was about half of what the engine was capable of.

What the shit. Crytek outdid themselves. Granted the game sold like absolute shit, the engine seems to be selling well (and it's EXPENSIVE). I thought the game was pretty damn good actually. I'm sure it will be much more enjoyable on very high with smooth FPS when I build my next computer.

Also I took this. http://dykebeard.drinkhound.com/pics/crysis/gongetraped.jpg Everything on high, not even very high. I decided that I had to run the end section on high to do it justice. Surprisingly since it was mostly indoors, it was smooth sailing and I can tell you this, it's not only giant outdoors shit it's good at. Oh man did it look good.

Cryengine2 is nextgen as fuck and it's about time a game pushed the shit out of hardware like this.

Also visuals like that are very possible in custom maps. I'm sure we'll end up seeing mods that enable some of the visual goodies left out from the final eventually.

Crysis = short game, but the graphic kicked ass

personally I found crysis more enjoyable than CoD4.

1. The game was probably longer. It took me about 8-9 hours to beat Crysis, the only reason it took me that length in CoD4 was because on Veteran, you spend more time dead that alive. You basically have to memorize the spawns if you want to beat it. Delta in Crysis was reasonably tough, but not fuck off hard like CoD4.

2. Technologically, it shits on it.

3. Holy shit the graphics.

5. Holy shit I can pitch turtle fastballs at people and demolish shacks by hurling a fucking DRILL PRESS AT IT.

6. Uncloaking in front of a bunch of Koreans, grabbing one by the throat and slamming one through a hut while his buddies scream in horror, then cloaking again is a thing of beauty.

7. Holy shit the graphics.

8. Holy shit I just popped that jeeps tires as it was driving and it went out of control and off a cliff exploding into a fireball below!

The whacky gameplay opportunities were far more ridiculous and amazing than fighting respawning insurgents for hours.
