and why does a hacker need one.. Question

A shell account is an account that gives you access to the unix shell (terminal) on another machine...

Why would this help hackers? Testing out operating systems...

Why would this help crackers? destroying computers...

And, i do not consider myself a hacker, i only identify myself with other hackers, and accept what they do.

Also, i hope you understand that there is a HUGE line between hackers (edit source to make better) and crackers (destroy things).
