How do I cheat?

whenever I do the first tutorial, on the exact value scan, it comes up with an error which says:
Extreme scan failed! The remote scan routine didn't tell me how to cancel the scan,which makes me to believe the scan never started.
can anyone help me with this, if so thanks. Sad
