Depends what size is allocated for that value. For example, if a signed integer is allocated 2 bytes of space (16 bits), then its value will only be -32767-32766.

So search it in a larger byte. and henceforth u will then be able to change to larger values?? (i used byte 2)

also, the game im hacking is phantasy star universe.
the 'money' and stats are all server side, will the HP/mana be the same??

Depends. Let's say for instance that your 2 byte value is part of a 4 byte value, then scanning in 4 byte would allow you to change the higher magnitude digits. However if it is just a 2 byte value in the first place (only allocated 2 bytes), then no that won't work.

Haven't played the game you're talking about but with things like HP/MP, it's usually more useful to mess around with the instructions writing to the addresses rather than the values themselves. So use CE's debugger to find "what writes to this address", etc.

in later incarnations of the phantasy star games, all your player shit did indeed get moved to the server side. likely not possible to change.
