I was wondering if there were any other mobos (besides 680i and 650i) that will perform almost as well as the 780i. I planned on getting the 780i but i was wondering if i REALLY need it but i don't.
Are there any other SLI cards out there that will perform as good/almost as good as the 780i for a cheaper price? (The 780i costs around $280 USD)

The 750i should be a good alternative. Though the 780i is $10 more, you should just go for the 780i or the 680i. Basically, the EVGA nVidia 780i is the exact same thing as the 680i, but the 780i is compatable with the dual and quad versions of Penryn; while the 680i is only compatable with the dual version of Penryn.

Okay first of all 650i, 680i, 780i, etc, are not motherboards, they are the name of the chipset Anyway, if you want to go SLI, you have no choice but to go with one of the Nvidia Nforce chipsets.
Although if you change your mind, and decide to leave SLI, go with a X38 chipset motherboard.

I prefer the X38 chipset.
