I am deciding to stop learning C++ and switch to C so I do not have to assimilate all the information concerning OOP. My question is, are there any advantages to using C over C++? And for fun, I included a poll.

-Thanks

Heres some various reads you might want to look at:

http://unthought.net/c++/c_vs_c++.html
http://www.cs.fsu.edu/~myers/c++/notes/cdiff.html

I personally would suggest C++ over C, while you learn C from programming in C++, C++ gives you many more advantages. OOP is something you should really take advantage of. It is something that can make a large scale program a lot easier to handle, write, etc. in the long run. Classes and such are a godsend in my opinion.

If you want to learn history and a deeper understanding, C before C++. It's like learning Latin before English. Just no point on a superficial level...

Choosnig between C and C++ is like grading a test. Would you rather get a C or a C++ on a test? I think the choice is quite clear, the answer is C++. Very Happy

C = Salad
C++ = Hotdog

C = More heathier
C++ = Less healthier

C = "Skinnier" programs
C++ = more "Bloated" programs

@ appalsap
If you by "professional" mean the true usage of the word, "someone who earns money on what they do" - thus someone who earns money on programming I doubt you have checked that up thoroughly.

@thread creator
If you wanna work with programming for a living I would choose C++ over C any day because it has OOP, something that is of great importance.
